Finding a Way Back

Good morning/afternoon to all. I want to start this by asking all of your forgiveness for my relative silence in the last few days. It is not because I have not had anything to say, more because I have not been able to articulate what is going through my head. No matter the reason, I am sorry.

I hope all of you are well. I know with everything that is going on in the world, “well” is something we are all trying to come to terms with. I pray that each of you is healthy and that you are finding that ray of sunshine we all need.

As most of you know, I live in the United States. Therefore I have been watching first hand as the chaos in this country unfolds. I stand with all of my brothers and sisters in the fight against injustice, racism, and hate, and I hope my silence has not come across as indifference. Trust me, I am not indifferent  to the issues that are plaguing this country. That being said, I am also not indifferent to the destruction that is playing out in the name of justice. What justice does this serve? What aid does burning down buildings bring to the families that have lost loved ones, like the family of George Floyd? How is all of this violence helping this man’s family?

In my opinion, instead of violence, education and humanity are the key. We need to educate ourselves and use the system to make the changes this country needs. We can not stand idly by and watch those that this country votes into power, destroy everything we stand for. After all, our country was created for the people by the people. Not for the white man, black man, latinos, asians, or any other race. For THE PEOPLE. Unless I am mistaken, people are human beings and no matter the color of your skin, the God you pray to, your job, or the amount of money you have in the bank, this country was made for human beings, by human beings.

This issue right here is the reason I have had such a hard time figuring out exactly what I wanted to write about. I am for justice for ALL PEOPLE. While I agree with black lives matter, I also believe that white lives matter, Hispanic lives matter, Indian lives matter, Asian lives matter, well, you get my point. All lives matter and we need to come together to make the change that makes it so all lives matter.

As always, inspire to be inspired. Use your voice as a weapon for the good, not as a tool to provoke more hate. My prayers are with all of the families that are suffering through this and with the world as it tries to heal. We need to rise up and help mend what we have torn down. As Steve Harvey so aptly put it, “Stop trippin because your in the process.” We may not understand his plan, but rest assured, he has one.

Mending a Broken World

The world’s voices are loud

     The words chanted in haste

They escalate to violence

For communities without time to waste

Mindless destruction ensues

     As buildings start to fall

The voices grow louder

Shouting for others to join the call

As our society suffers

     Our nation awaits her fate

Will this chaos end

Or is it already too late

Many prayers are rising

     Voices silently begging for peace

Prayers for the victims

Supplications for the fighting to cease

We block this path though

     The one that brings hope

In our constant struggle

To find some way to cope

We cannot demand and end

     For what we purposely incite

It is this hatred-filled reality

     That we ultimately fight

Our world will suffer

Until we can silence the rage

We must lock it away

     And turn yet another page

Replace the anger instead

     With a blindly loving heart

For peace is not coming

Until we all do our part
