Shattered Illusions

Photo by Sharon McCutcheon from Pexels

Your lips meet mine

     dew kissing flowers

My heart pounds

     thunder crashing

Your touch is electrifying

     lightning through my soul

I surrender to your prowess

     euphoria beckons come in

Walls torn down

     relics of a forgotten youth

My heart is open

     butterflies fluttering to life

You possess me

     eternity laughs sardonic

          just out of reach

The illusion shatters

     crystallized teardrops

in the coldness of your act

Your spell is broken

     earth crumbles

          swallowing the

               scattered remains

The heart so newly awoke

     dons its diamond facade
